Creating Confidence
“What are 10 reasons why you’re successful?”
For some reason this question caught my attention in a recent email. And then I thought, what a great confidence building exercise this would make. That is my challenge to you. Create a list of the 10 reasons why you are successful and review them every morning.
You might wonder, well. . .what is success? Yes. Great question to ask yourself because it’s completely subjective and different for everyone. At its core, success is achieving a goal or desired outcome. It might be something tangible, such as a promotion at work or earning a certain amount of money, or intangible, such as a sense of fulfillment or peace. It also might have more to do with the journey rather than a destination. The process of working towards a goal, overcoming obstacles, and learning from mistakes.
Ultimately, success is finding happiness and fulfillment in your life, whatever that may look like for you.
Knowing what makes you successful helps you build confidence in your abilities. It enables you to take on new challenges and overcome obstacles that may have previously held you back. It will also help you gain insight into your values, beliefs, and motivations, which in turn can lead to better decision making and improve your overall well-being.
Do you need an exercise to help you with this exercise? Here are some areas you can pull from as you identify the reasons why you are successful.
Reflect on your past achievements: Think about times in your life when you felt successful, accomplished, or proud of yourself. What did you do to achieve those successes? What strengths or skills did you use?
Identify your strengths: Take an inventory of your skills, abilities, and personal qualities. What do you excel at? What comes naturally to you? What do others recognize as your strengths?
Seek feedback: Ask trusted friends, family, or colleagues for their perspective on your strengths and areas for improvement. Listen to their feedback with an open mind and use it to gain insight into yourself.
Assess your values: Consider what is important to you in life. What are your core values? What motivates you? Aligning your actions with your values can lead to greater fulfillment and success.
Remember, success is subjective and can mean different things to different people. What makes you successful is unique to you. Take the time to reflect and gain self-awareness to determine what success means to you and how to achieve it. And then, review it every day.
